Archaeological Institute was established as a scientific research unit in frame of the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Members of the Department of Archaeology also work within the Archaeological institute.
Archaeological Institute main activities include participating in or managing the scientific research projects, archaeological excavations, organizing scientific conferences and museum exhibitions as well as being involved in disseminaton of research results to the general public, presenting the Institute activites and giving lectures.
